the crosby street hotel

06.13.2010

We had some bubbly and snacks with my family on Friday at the Crosby Street Hotel. A friend of ours was staying at the hotel so we got to experience the for guests only library, which was amazingly decorated. Every little corner was perfectly thought out by Tim and Kit Kemp. The art and decor were so up my ally. I think the photos speak for themselves. Need I say more?

For those of you who like the deer head look, my favorites are made by Roost. I bought Brendan this one for his birthday, actually got it discounted through a friend. It hangs in our mudroom and greets our guests.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

And for those who asked – the paint color is Cambridge Green (#468) by Benjamin Moore.

the boys’ rooms

Before the weekend begins I will leave you with a link to a book that I’m eagerly awaiting. Room For Children by Susanna Salk. As I mentioned awhile ago, interior design is a hobby of mine, or more like an obsession since we bought our house. My heart skipped a beat when I saw the cover of this book and I quickly put myself on Amazon’s list to receive one as soon as it’s available.

And while were at it, here are a few photos of Conner and Tyler’s rooms. They are a work in progress but this is what they look like as of now. I tend to lean towards a mix of modern and traditional. I love color and decided to paint the ceilings of both rooms since there is no trim. I recently had the bulletin board in Conner’s room made so he has a place to hang all of his artwork. The rocker in his room was mine when I was little and his window treatments were made from Dwell shower curtains, which I think they discontinued. The rug is Madeline Weinrib, found at the ABC Home Outlet and furniture is a mix of Oeuf, Room and Board and Pottery Barn (all bought on sale). Lamp is from West Elm. Letters are from Sundance, framed prints are from 20×200.com and the photos/canvases are compliments of well, yours truly. All of the details for Ty’s room can be seen here plus the orange photo ledge is from Room and Board. We still need a couple more minor things – in due time. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

the lovers collection

Hope you all had a nice weekend. The weather was gorgeous here. Our weekend included dinner with friends at this a new seafood gem, Day Boat Cafe on Friday, a shoot on Saturday and brunch with Bren’s family in the city yesterday.

I’ll leave you with these beautiful prints I came across on Room and Board’s website, designed and inspired by one of  KleinReid and Eva Zeisel’s porcelain collaborations. They were also featured in my favorite Home section of the NY Times on Thursday. We plan to paint our living room a rich tealish/slate blue and I think these would really pop against the paint color.

There are days when I consider starting an Interior Design business. Hmmm… maybe one day? Owning and furnishing (or atleast trying to furnish- it’s a very slow and pricey process) our house over the last couple years has reignited my interest. I studied the subject for awhile at art school and worked at Gensler in NYC for 4 summers. Both my parents always took great pride in designing and decorating their homes. My father is an architect and my youngest brother was just accepted into Cornell’s architecture school. Design, home decor and collecting art have always been very prominent in my life. SO, I think I’m going to start sharing more of my own house and some of my decorating finds here. Chime in. I would love to hear your thoughts.
