The last 10 days were busy. An earthquake, 14 shoots, one broken camera and now, a hurricane. It’s Saturday night and I’m finally home from the Hamptons to be with my family through the wrath of Irene. Assuming we will most likely lose power, I’m posting now for Monday. I wanted to post more last week but due to a really crappy internet connection, shooting or enjoying a little time to myself, I didn’t get around to it. Forgive me.

I will leave you with a few of the tunes I listened to on my Ipod, on the awesome radio station (EHM) out east OR at my latest obsession, Soul Cycle. Hopefully we’ll make it back to the beach and these songs will fill the walls of my car, our house or the back porch. If not, we’ll listen to them through our laptop, amongst the candles. Hopefully you will join me, power or no power.

So lately Monday or should I say Sunday, is not a day for me to blog. I can’t seem to get my act together until Tuesday. Our weekends have been spent with the boys poolside, playing golf and tennis or at Cars 2 and going out for tacos. That was the case this past Sunday. I’ve been loving our summer weekends and find myself holding on to these warm days knowing that the bitter cold days lie ahead. After the past winter, I’m bracing myself.

That being said, I bring to you Ms. Janis Joplin. I was never a huge fan of her music although I do appreciate it. Now for her style? Well, that’s a different story. She was beyond cool. There are quite a few of her songs I really like but this song I LOVE. It reminds me of summer for some reason. I listened to One Night Stand alot last summer. It crept it’s way onto many of my playlists, especially those for the car. It makes we want to roll the windows down and cruise, which is what summer is for, right?

The Itunes version is better than this one. It’s worth listening to as well.

is a great band from Seattle my husband recently heard on the radio. He came home and introduced me to this song. I think it’s a great way to kick off the week. Let’s hope it’s cooler than the last.

and it’s called Super Heavy. Mick Jagger, Joss Stone, Bob Marley’s youngest son Damian Marley and Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics have come together to form Super Heavy. Their debut song is Miracle Worker and it’s awesome. How can you not love this combo? Below is only an introduction to the song, the full version may eventually be purchased through Itunes. It’s not available in the states just yet. Once it is I will let you know.

Our weekends have been busy with summer festivities. This past weekend included a trip to the Jersey Shore to visit some of our closest friends. Five kids all 6 and under, four adults, lots of laughs.

I came across Gretchen Parlato’s soothing voice on a favorite blog of mine, Jay-Z’s Life and Times. Since then I’ve listened to her Lost and Found CD numerous times while working, while making breakfast, while running errands. She is perfect for the next summer dinner you share outside with your special someone. That’s on our agenda for this weekend. Make sure to check her out.

Btw. I’m so bummed but the mini Ipod isn’t working so well. In the meantime, this will have to do!

I’ve decided to organize things around here a little differently. I’m hoping to motivate myself to blog more consistently about things the things I love and to focus this blog a bit more. Home, cooking, music and of course photography will be the main topics and here’s how I’m hoping things will go down.

Wednesday – Home (anything home related including interiors and recipe box)

Friday – Photography (recent shoots and anything else photo related)

Tuesday or Thursday will most likely be personal or a wild card day.

To kick the week off I plan to give you a short playlist of what I’ve been listening to over the weekend. A wide variety of new and old tunes that have made their way to my Ipod and will hopefully start your week off right. Music Mondays! Here we go.
